Liz loves people and loves doing this work.
As a licensed mental health counselor, Liz employs an eclectic, evidence-based approach guided by her clients’ needs and aspirations. Experience has shown her that with insight and support, people can create better lives for themselves, which is why she works creatively and collaboratively with her psychotherapy clients to meet their goals. Liz works with individual adults, couples, teens, and families. Her work is informed by training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy (PACT), ecotherapy, humanistic psychology, mindfulness, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). She is also trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I). Witnessing the very personal impact of climate change on her clients, Liz joined the Climate Psychology Alliance North America (CPA-NA) and is involved in ongoing professional training around this issue.
In addition to her private-practice work, Liz has experience as a psychotherapist at a community mental health organization and at a residential treatment center for children and adolescents. She also routinely takes part in continuing education so that her own view of what is possible in therapy is constantly evolving and expanding.
Liz earned her Master of Science in mental health counseling from the University of Massachusetts and her bachelor’s degree from Barnard College of Columbia University, where she majored in English. She also has a law degree from George Mason University in Virginia.
